Sucralose

Why sucralose might backfire

Sucralose

Dr. Rhonda Patrick recently shared a study showing that sucralose, a zero-calorie sweetener found in many “diet” drinks, may actually increase hunger.

Researchers found that people who drank sucralose had an 8% increase in brain activity in the hunger center (hypothalamus), more than those who drank sugary drinks or just water. They also felt hungrier after drinking sucralose.

On the other hand, sugar (sucrose) raised blood sugar and insulin levels, which helped people feel less hungry. Even though sucralose has no calories, it may confuse your brain and make you feel hungrier, not fuller.
