What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an injectable treatment made with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible synthetic material that stimulates collagen production as part of the body’s tissue response. It is classified as a collagen stimulator rather than a conventional hyaluronic acid filler. After injection, Sculptra supports gradual tissue remodelling, which may improve the appearance of facial volume loss, wrinkles and selected signs of ageing.

Unlike treatments designed to produce immediate volume, Sculptra’s visible effects develop over weeks and months. The product is gradually broken down by the body, while the collagen response contributes to the treatment’s longer-term effects.

Sculptra benefits

Sculptra may offer several benefits for appropriately selected patients.

1. Supports collagen production

Sculptra stimulates a collagen response that may improve the appearance of skin structure and firmness over time.

2. Improves the appearance of facial volume loss

It may help address selected facial contour changes associated with ageing and volume loss, creating a fuller-looking appearance gradually.

3. Softens selected facial wrinkles

Sculptra may improve the appearance of certain facial wrinkles and lines, depending on the treatment area and individual assessment.

4. Provides gradual, long-lasting improvement

Results develop progressively rather than appearing entirely at the time of injection. In studied facial uses, results may last up to approximately 24 months, although duration varies.

Sculptra is a medical aesthetic procedure that should only be administered by an appropriately trained healthcare professional familiar with its specific injection technique, indications and risks.
